Chewy, golden-brown chocolate chip cookies with crisp edges and soft centers.
These classic chocolate chip cookies are a perfect treat — rich, buttery, and packed with gooey chocolate chips. A short chill in the fridge deepens their flavor and gives you that ideal texture: slightly crisp outside with a soft, chewy middle.
Whether you're baking for a special occasion or just because, these cookies are a timeless favorite. Serve with a cold glass of milk or a hot cup of coffee for ultimate enjoyment.
Ingredients
- 100 g unsalted butter (or vegan butter)
- 150 g brown sugar
- 1 egg (or half a ripe banana for vegan)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 200 g all-purpose flour
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 100 g chocolate chips (or chopped vegan chocolate)
- extra chocolate chips for decoration
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the butter and brown sugar for a few minutes until creamy.
- Add the egg (or mashed banana) and vanilla extract, and mix until well incorporated.
- Add flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix until just combined — avoid overmixing.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour (overnight for best results).
- Preheat the oven to 170 °C (conventional).
- Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces and roll them into balls.
- Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each.
- Press a few extra chocolate chips on top of each ball for decoration.
- Bake for 12–14 minutes or until golden brown. The cookies will still be soft.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
