Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chewy, golden-brown chocolate chip cookies with crisp edges and soft centers.

These classic chocolate chip cookies are a perfect treat — rich, buttery, and packed with gooey chocolate chips. A short chill in the fridge deepens their flavor and gives you that ideal texture: slightly crisp outside with a soft, chewy middle.

Whether you're baking for a special occasion or just because, these cookies are a timeless favorite. Serve with a cold glass of milk or a hot cup of coffee for ultimate enjoyment.

Ingredients

  • 100 g unsalted butter (or vegan butter)
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 1 egg (or half a ripe banana for vegan)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 100 g chocolate chips (or chopped vegan chocolate)
  • extra chocolate chips for decoration

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the butter and brown sugar for a few minutes until creamy.
  2. Add the egg (or mashed banana) and vanilla extract, and mix until well incorporated.
  3. Add flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix until just combined — avoid overmixing.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour (overnight for best results).
  6. Preheat the oven to 170 °C (conventional).
  7. Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces and roll them into balls.
  8. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each.
  9. Press a few extra chocolate chips on top of each ball for decoration.
  10. Bake for 12–14 minutes or until golden brown. The cookies will still be soft.
  11. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
