Mustard Mashed Potatoes

Creamy mashed potatoes with mustard, butter, and black pepper.

A simple, comforting mashed potato recipe with a gentle mustard kick. Smooth, rich, and easy to pair with stews and roasts.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 200 ml milk or cream, warmed
  • 1-2 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the potatoes in a pot and cover with cold salted water.
  2. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes, until fork-tender.
  3. Drain well, then return the potatoes to the hot pot for 1-2 minutes to steam-dry.
  4. Add the warm milk or cream, mustard, butter, and black pepper.
  5. Mash until smooth and creamy. Add a splash more liquid if needed.
  6. Taste and season with salt and extra pepper.
